Our Show FormatsWe currently run two show formats, one firmly based in games and the other more experimental.Comedy Carnage
Every two months at the Boat Race in East Rd, Amazing
Spectacles present Cambridge's most consistently hilarious night of comedy.
Audiences are treated to ninety minutes of games and improvised sketches that
picks up where Whose Line Is It Anyway leaves off.
Theatre By Accident
"We were in awe of you all."Amazing Spectacles pushes back the frontiers of theatre yet again with Theatre By Accident, the only show in Cambridge to feature a completely improvised one-hour play. Watch as our veteran performers weave complex storylines out of thin air. Theatre doesn't come more spontaneous than this, or more rewarding. Funny PeculiarNinety minutes of interwoven comedy stories and sketches that will alternately astonish, delight and terrify! Come join the adventure!Theatre SportsTheatre Sports is a way of making Improv competitive! There is normally an MC, judges and several teams. A toss decides which team starts with a challenge. The team can decide which game to play. The judges carry a horn or similar, which they use to issue a warning for boringness or any other penalties. A punished player may get a basket over their head for a number of minutes, or some penalty such as having to perform in rhyme. After each challenge (played by both teams) the winning team is decided by audience cheering and applause (as interpreted by the judges). A team from Amazing Spectacles took part in a Theatre Sports show at the Latchmere Theatre in Battersea, London on Saturday 18th May as part of the London Comedy Festival. Our friends the Spontaneity Shop organised this sell-out show. The third team was from DangerMouth, an Improv group from London and New Zealand. We came second, pipped at the post in the final round by DangerMouth! |
